I took several pictures of the flea market on Saturday from our backyard. As I said in the previous post, this market continues along the entire promenade, maybe a quarter mile long and three aisles wide. You can get everything from a bed to handmade baskets, not to mention all kinds of knock off items such as fancy watches and sunglasses. The merchants are French from Morocco, Tunisia, or Algeria.
The produce market, on the other hand, is in Place Carnot at the center of the Bastide. It is both a social and shopping event. We noticed folks were well-dressed; these are locals running errands and visiting with their neighbors.
Marie commented on the shoes, how it's all about styling and profiling even though it means negotiating the cobblestone streets. And so we've included a sampling of shoes we noticed at both markets.
