Santiago de Compostela—October 6, 2018

Today is our last day before catching another ALSA bus to Porto, Portugal at 4:30PM. It's Saturday and we're sitting in the communal living room of our pension after having coffer at the Derby Cafe and spending the morning walking through the Abastos Market and Santo Agostino (St. Augustine) Church (1633) now home to Jesuits.

Hope you enjoy the market as much as we did.

Squid swimming in their own ink.

Some sea snails are making a break for it. Ya, the seafood is fresh!

This is what an empanada looks like at the market. It's HUGE!
This is a bit larger than a cookie sheet.

Time for butternut squash soup and leek gallette.

This artwork on the face of one of the market buildings was
about 18" wide. Art like this abounds in the Old Town just
hoping folks will notice.

And Mary looks out for all shoppers from San Fiz de Solvio
Church's 13th century Romanesque front.

After the market we stepped inside Santo Agostino Church, because it's about 20 steps from the market. The Baroque altars inside are baroque!
Center nave. Skinny windows make
for dark interiors.

And then it's back at Hedrass Pension where we will figure out what to do with the rest of our day before catching our bus to Porto.

Okay, we decided we weren't finished and went out for lunch and took another walk through Alameda Park.
Scrambled eggs with prawns and wild mushrooms for Rick.

Traditional Spanish omelette for Marie. This will serve as
another meal later today.
Alameda Park. Many of the largest trees are bay laurel, or
bayleaf trees.
