Cascais—our neighborhood

As I said in my previous post, we're in a residential area just up from the town center. This morning I took some pictures to give you an idea about finding the cafe Joana, the property manager, said was just up the street on the left.

I already explained how we needed help finding it, and it always surprises us how day 2 in a place begins to feel familiar and friendly. Yesterday we were a bit annoyed about where the mysterious cafe might be, and today, because we knew what we were looking for and where it was, the cafe was exactly where Joana said—just up the street on the left.
The lobby of the condominiums.
Nice eh?
The entrance to our building. The
entire condominium is being painted.
Maybe that's why we don't have any
balcony furniture; maybe the off
season is when everything's updated.
Joana said the cafe was up the
street and on our left.

No cafe here.

No cafe here; that's a laundromat.

Turns out, we should have paid attention to the top of the sign,
because it clearly says this is a commercial center.

And sure enough, we walked in
and found Paulinos cafe, a little
grocery store, a realty office, a
laundromat, and a Jogos—little
stores that sell cigarettes, lottery
tickets, gum, candy bars, etc.

And by day 2 the cafe owner knew what we wanted.
That's our building at the end of the street, the reddish one
with the shroud over the scaffolding.
