Cascais to Estoril Promenade Walk—10/22/18

Today we walked to Estoril and back clocking in a little over 7 beautiful miles along the beach. It was 76F (24C) today and people were swimming in the ocean. Ya, the ohcean!

This is the rear of rental cottages
overlooking the ocean. The tiled
promenade winds through some
business areas and neighborhoods,
opening out to public beaches for
about two miles (1.9km).

Paddle board instruction.

Looking back to Cascais.

This is an open-to-the-ocean "swimming pool". The square
concrete blocks to the left have ladders attached so swimmers
can climb up to sun themselves or cool off when the tide rises
just above the surface of the structures.

We stopped at Deck Beer Garden Cafe to get out of the sun
and one table over from us a waiter brought a woman a
traditional sandwich we'd been hoping to have since Porto.
And there it was. Guess what we ordered?

Check it out! That's the name of the sandwich in big red letters.
We knew it was huge, so we shared one. It's a triple decker
sandwich with sausage, steak, bacon, with melted cheese inside
and out, and topped with a sunny-side-up egg all swimming in
a tomato-and-beer-base sauce. There's linner!

The good news was that we had to
walk 3 miles back to our place after-
ward so linner was 0 calories.

October 22nd and folks are sunbathing and swimming in the
Atlantic. Mind you, some people are dressing according to
the season, wearing sweaters over buttoned down shirts,
because it is Fall after all!
